In this installment of Pioneering Women of Civil War America ~ Mary Boykin Miller Chestnut, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce constructs (in part by a production grant from the South Carolina Hall of Fame) a wonderfully brief video about how Mary Boykin Miller Chestnut came to write what is proclaimed as the most thorough and important work by a Confederate author, surpassed by none for its keen observations and insights into the South during its life-and-death struggle. How could Mary have possibly been in so many places to witness key events and the actions of major political and military persons throughout the American Civil War? And what gave her tools to record such with an eye toward neutrality? Watch and learn!
Happy Viewing,
