Here’s a wonderful educational short I found, written and directed by María Agui Carter, that features Loreta Janeta Velazquez A Civil War Woman Soldier and Spy for the Confederate States of America. There are many historical estimates that agree, that, between five hundred and one thousand Civil War Women disguised themselves to fight as men along their male counterparts for the Union and Confederate States of America. There were countless other women that served as nurses, cooks, laundresses, and spies. I hope you will find this short excerpt as informative and educational I did. All my best, Lisa Y. Potocar
